HOSEA NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 2026

Dear Friends

This year 2026 started off with a bang  on the island of Mindoro! Amongst the many positive achievements were significant progress on three of our church buildings: the  opening ceremony for Malpalo Calintaan church was held; construction work on the Gamot Hosea church made good progress; and renovations were carried out on the church in Oriental Mindoro, where a stronger building was sorely needed.  The previous building was too weak to withstand the storms and the last typhoon had blown the roof off the church.

In the town of Mamburao a youth festival was held, but soon afterwards NPA terrorists attacked the port area, which is a key location of great importance to the entire island. Fighting with the army escalated, so the army set up a guard around our town, resulting in everyday life going haywire.

New place for the Gospel

New place for the Gospel

Battles with the NPA usually take place in the mountains in the tribal area, because there are plenty of good hiding places for the terrorists. The island of Mindoro has significant natural mineral resources that the mining industry exploits, and the terrorists are seeking this wealth for themselves.

The communist propaganda of the NPA tries to persuade the people that when they get power then everyone will have food. But the reality is different: in all the remote areas that the NPA holds, there the misery is the greatest as the terrorists rob the poor of everything, including food.

Distribution of food

Distribution of food

This is one of the reasons why we distribute food in those areas and preach the gospel. This way, the people in the area may see what real change can bring. These regions are dangerous and that is why we work with the army: without their cooperation and protection it would be impossible to enter there.

Malpalo/Calintaan new Church

Malpalo/Calintaan new Church

When I was a young believer, I received a prophetic word: "The Lord will send you to the darkest places among the wolves and witches". Not a very attractive sounding assignment, but over the years it has become a reality.  I rejoice in the results of our work and in the upcoming new generation! Burning preachers are arising, like 8-year-old Rio.  Recently I prayed that the Lord would speak to Rio about his future responsibilities and the answer came immediately. His mother told me that Rio had a dream that same night and in the dream, Rio saw a great tsunami wave coming from the sea, so big that it would swamp vast areas. He had to go out to warn everyone about this great danger and tell them about Christ. In the dream, he travelled from island to island in the Philippines, from church to church, warning people and preaching to them about salvation. The dream inspired Rio to preach at a youth meeting, using John 3:16 as his guide: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."

May this be a year of blessings and long-awaited answers to prayer for you all!
