May 2014 Newsletter

Hi everyone,

I am just about to leave for my three month's tour to Europe but wanted to send you one more newsletter as my friend Trevor Majoinen has done his second mission trip to the Philippines. He has just arrived back home and told amazing stories of what God is doing there amongst the Filipino people. They are so hungry and thirsty for God and He decided to pour His Spirit in ways unheard among them. Please read below the report of God's outpouring in the Philippines, written by Trevor.
With my love,
Anne

Second Mission Trip to the Philippines – Trevor Majoinen

During my first trip to the Philippines I recognised that there was such spiritual hunger to experience more of God that I felt compelled to go back and continue while things were still fresh. This proved to be right and in line with God's plans.
First we had Hosea Medical Mission in Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro (south-eastern part of Mindoro Island). Mothers had walked for three hours early in the morning with their children to attend the event. It was good that everything was well prepared, food was ready when people arrived and reception had been organized so it all worked smoothly. Patients moved from one desk to another and had a counselling session with the Gospel preached to them before seeing the doctor, then they went to the pharmacy desk to receive medicines and vitamins. The Mission Doctor was fantastic, she treated about 200 patients, working all day through about 9 hours. Christian dentist also treated about 55 patients. It was a busy day, but everything was running smoothly. I do really appreciate the professional work of all those who volunteered. You could easily see the satisfaction on the faces of these native Mangyans, as they were also given food to take home to their families. Great work - Praise God!
Next event was our mission trip to nearby islands. Pastor Sonio managed to hire a local fishing boat to ferry us there. Sea was calm and after sailing for four hours we landed on a beach of Caluya Island. The local Pastor and Barangay Captain (community leader) were there to welcome us. Next day the meetings started at a church in Toril. Pastors did not know what to expect, so they were not prepared and no prior announcements were made. However, as people came for prayer, they were slain in the Spirit one after another. They had never experienced anything of the power or move of the Holy Spirit.

News of this phenomena of seeing and experiencing God in powerful ways stirred up pastors and people and suddenly we were in great demand. Our team was altogether 22 people, consisting of six pastors and their wives, singers and helpers. The idea was that these Hosea affiliated pastors would get experience of the move of the Holy Spirit in their ministry, as that is practically taken missing in all churches there. I encouraged them to boldly go forth with their wives to pray for people expecting power to fall. Amazingly, to their great surprise this started to happen and things got really moving.
Next day we took a boat ride to Sibato island and the local church was ready for us, there were about 100 people waiting for us. Pastor seemed tired and depressed, so first we had an offering taken for the pastor. His pockets were filled with money which really touched his heart and made him cry. He was first man in the line for prayer and down he went, others followed him to the floor. Great rejoicing and dancing ended the meeting, young and old were praising God together.
On Sunday our team split up to 3 churches and I had to preach at the island's main church, pastored by the area's superintendent. It was a large and nice church with more than 200 members and beautiful, well organized worship. All started well but then the electricity cut occurred and my interpreter and I had to preach out loud, shouting in the hot church which was like sauna. All came in front to receive prayer and then it started again: people were falling all over the places. The church floor was tiled so we had to be careful and prevent anyone from hurting themselves, so the catchers were kept very busy! The Pastor was a bit in a shock at first but quickly recovered, took pictures and filmed with his Ipad. Later he told me that they had never seen or experienced anything like this and he truly got excited. In the evening we had a youth meeting which ended in to a similar “holy chaos”. We had great time when ministering to these dear people, and the demand for this kind of experience is growing as the word gets spread around.

Back in Mamburao we had Pastors and church workers retreat for 3 days, learning new methods of church growth and how to flow together with the Holy Spirit. This was a great time of fellowship and charging batteries for future challenges ahead. Pastor in Bulalacao reported that Holy Spirit manifestations had started to occur in their church services. This is exactly what we were hoping for and we pray that it would multiply to bring praise to God.
The last Sunday evening we were in Mamburao church where the breakthrough had still not happened among the youth group. This bothered me, so we divided them to small groups and urged them to pray for each other. Pastor Sonio and I went around and kept blessing them and doing so we felt God's presence getting more intense. Soon some youth started dancing in the Spirit which then spread to others, then laughing started and that was also very contagious. This went on for a long time. Pastor Sonio was so happy that the youth had finally experienced God in this new and deeper way. He told me that they had never had such encounter with God before. On the way back my heart was filled with joy as again God had shown how big and strong He is, working through his weak servants. While giving thanks to Him I was also aware of the fact that we could have done many things more effectively but perhaps next time, God willing.
I want to give my heartfelt thanks for all those who supported this trip financially. Especially grateful I am for all those who prayed for us, and the biggest thanks to God for his wonderful grace in our Lord Jesus Christ.
With loving appreciation your brother in the Lord,

Trevor Majoinen
